Stop Destruction of Krakow’s Jewish Heritage

Our main heritage preservation project:

Restore historic synagogue which is in a state demanding urgent intervention, locaded in the center of Krakow’s Jewish District , as a home for Jewish community, the center of dialog, Jewish life, education and art. More at: beitkrakow.tempel.pl

Our main interventions:

1. (2012-Now) Intervening to ensure legal protection of the remaining part of the wall painitngs in Beit Midrash Hevra Tehilim, Meiselsa 18, Kraków. The Paintings got legal protection and restoration only after Beit Krakow community intervention.

The part visible below, together with whole beuatifuly painted Aharon HaKodesh were unfortunately destroyed without any consequences to people who did it as to this day.

ORIGINAL LOOK OF DESTROYED PART OF THE UNIQUE IN THE SCALE OF ENTIRE WORLD UNESCO-PROTECTED POLICHROMIES (WALL PAINTINGS) OF JERUSALEM, WHICH WERE IN LARGE PART REMOVED BY DISCO BAR RENTING THE SYNAGOGUE, WHILE GOVERMENTAL AUTHORITIES ALERTED BY BEIT KRAKOW JEIWSH COMMUNITY LEFT THE MATTER WITH NO REACTION WHATSOEVER.

2. (2020-Now) Intervened and stopped 200y old facade of UNESCO-protected the Józefa Street 12 in Krakow Building, so called “Schindler’s List” building, while Police and authorities declined to look for who did the act of destruction of heritage protected by the law, which is punishable in Polish law by jailtime. Still Intervening against illegal renovations, which slowly destroy historic value and of the building turning.

3. Intervention to perserve original wall paintings and original wood work, being destroyed in non-supervised renovations in the building by Beniamin Torbe – the builder of Krakow’s Tempel Synagogue, on 22 Miodowa Street, just in front of Krakow’s Tempel Synagogue. Press release, photos.
